3D AudioSense

Distributed 3D sound recording makes a difference
The 3D AudioSense system enables recording of spatial sound using distributed wireless microphone array. Additionally, system provides sound sources separation techniques. Therefore, output signals represent sound objects (eg. violin, guitar, vocal, etc.).

Main goals

  • Low-cost system for audio scene capturing using a distributed wireless sensor network.
  • Highly mobile and self-organizing system with battery operated devices.
  • Distributed 3D audio coding using MPEG-H 3D Audio standard.
  • Applications in TV broadcasts, music performances, sport events and audio-based tracking.

Acustic Sensor Unit

  • BeagleBone Black (BBB) – processing board.
  • Microphone array – developed as BBB extension, AudioSense board equipped with pair of electret microphones, low noise amplifiers and acoustic localization module.
  • High quality A/D and D/A converters with sampling rate up to 96kHz and 24 bit resolution.
  • Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11ac interfaces.
